Cris Miro was the first trans woman from Argentina to ever appear in Television. The show girl born on the 16 of September of 1965 in the city of Belgrano, started her show girl- acting career while studying to become an odontologist. After finishing up high school , in the midst of studying odontology in the University Of Buenos Aires she took acting and dancing classes. Which eventually led her to her first acting role.

In 1991 Miro had her acting debut in the film Dios Los Cria ( un ambito familiar), and from then on her career took off. She was reached out by different Argentinian TV shows like Almorzando con Mirtha Legrad , Canal 13 and Telefe.

At the time things were very different in Argentina compared to how they are now, trans people were not allowed to legally change their legal documents to the sex they had transition to and discrimination against people from the LGTBQ+ community was at its peak.

But despite the mentality of the Argentinian society in the 90's , Cris Miro was able to breach some of the barriers society had imposed towards people like her and in 1995 was named showgirl of the year despite being legally a man.

Miro's success was undeniable , but her career started to fell apart when in 1997 after months of feeling sick had to cancelled her tour around the atlantic coast. Miro kept having small appearances in Television , but an unknown disease was destroying her.

After many hospital visits throughout the past two years, Cris Miro was hospitalized on May of 1999 and months later passed away in June due to HIV, which was determined to be the cause of her death after Miro passed away.

Even though Miro's fame was short , it made an impact to the Argentinian society and how trans people were viewed as. She represented a shift that was meant to happen , and paved the way for other trans women like Florencia de la V and Maria Genesio(who happens to portray Cris Miro in the upcoming series in Netflix about her life).

In 2016 writer Carlos Sanzol published a biography of Miro called Hembra: Cris Miro, vivir y morir en un pais de machos that tells her story and whole trajectory. She remains in the heart of many and in history as one of the few positive portrayals of latin american trans women.

In an interview Miro once said something that really stuck to me: ''Even though I was born with a certain sex, which means that I have documents with a man's name and gender, the most important thing is what I feel. I am only one person, and that is what matters to me. That thing about the opposites is seen by others. I live it in only one way.''
