Hi guys !
As you can all see in my main page my name is Victoria. I am originally from Colombia and have been living in Toronto for the past six months.
Prior to coming to Toronto , I felt an emptiness that I didn't knew what was about. Only when I came to Toronto I realized that the reason I felt like this, was because a lot of things regarding my gender identity were unconsciously and consciously hidden and avoided since I was 13 years old by me.
These epiphanies as well as Canada's open mindedness towards the LGTBQ+ community , made me take courage and start my transition into the woman I am today.
Being raised in a latin american country such as Colombia wasn't the best experience , despite all the privileges that I had. This is particularly , because when you don't quite fit in society's rules of what a woman or man should be life tends to harder and overwhelming to go through.
As a journalist student one my biggest passions is to read books, especially books related to the trans movement. That is one of the main reasons I decided to start this blog. A thought struck my mind, how can I express myself in a channel in which I can both document my transition here in Canada and give my two cents in how trans people especially trans woman are portrayed in the media? A blog!
Throughout this blog I will be tackling my experiences as a trans woman and history about how the trans movement began and how trans people were perceived and continue to be perceived by society.
I hope you enjoy it !
.
We love U !!!
Keep doing this! it will help a lot of people... Congrats!!!
